Global Automotive Declarable Substance List

GADSL - the Global Automotive Directive Substances List – has been initiated by the world’s largest car manufacturers and main suppliers for recycling purposes. Please check GADSL organisation.

The GADSL list is mainly meant for Tier1, Tier2 suppliers to the automotive industry as a guideline to fill the IMDS. In the IMDS (International Material Data System) all materials used for car manufacture are archived and maintained. Please check IMDS system.

The GADSL list – 2008, version 1.0 - refers under no. 58 to Mineral fibres (Natural or Synthetic). No further distinction is made. Our Roxul®1000 fibres (exonerated in EU and according to WHO/IARC) but also Refractory Ceramic fibres (classified in EU as cat. 2 and by WHO as 2B = possibly carcinogenic) are, according to GADSL, in the same category although they differ a lot on health aspects.

In short: The product “Roxul®1000” contains 95-100% mineral fibres and thus should be declared “for information only”. The GADSL organisation has stated that this demand for declaration (for information) should not pose any problem or cause a barrier.

Important note: within the IMDS system our Roxul®1000 fibres can be found as being non-declarable under the CAS number 287922-11-6.
