Low-steel disc pad applications

In low-steel disc pad applications, our fibres are often used in combination with steel fibres. Like steel fibres, our fibres have high thermal stability, making them ideal for high performance applications such as disc brake pads. Rockbrake fibres have a high melting temperature resulting in a stable friction coefficient over a wide temperature range.

Due to their moisture and corrosion resistance, Rockbrake fibres also reduce the risk of corrosion and early morning sickness. Moan and groan can also be reduced compared to steel fibres. Due to their low abrasive nature, Rockbrake fibres also cause less rotor wear compared to steel fibres which in turn reduces wheel dusting.

Nao/non-steel disc pad applications

For passenger vehicle disc pads, we offer our unique Extreme Low Shot fibres (ELS) for NAO/non-steel (also known as ceramic) formulations. Research shows that low shot content is essential to achieve low pad and rotor wear as well as good noise performance. Lapinus is the only manufacturer capable of producing almost pure mineral fibres - with a shot content close to 0%.

Concern about noise and wheel dusting means brake manufacturers are looking increasingly towards Rockbrake Extreme Low Shot fibres or our rubber coated fibres in NAO/non-steel formulations for passenger vehicle disc pads.

Passenger car linings

In passenger car linings our fibres are used in extruded or moulded linings. Based on the required performance and production process, different fibre types can be used. Our fibres have a positive effect on the extrusion process.
