R&D facilities
Over the past years we have continuously been investing in our friction research capabilities. We have a pilot plant to produce our own friction materials and various equipment to determine their physical and friction characteristics. In our test centre, our full size passenger vehicle dynamometer, Krauss machine and wear test rig, allow us to perform friction testing according to internationally test standards. The extensive laboratory facilities offer us the opportunity to be a dedicated technical partner for our customers and to team up with them in joint developments.
By working closely together with knowledge institutes and consultants we continuously increase our knowledge on all relevant aspects for friction materials such as production processes, formulations, formulating and testing.
Product development
Our extensive research facilities are continuously used to improve the performance of raw materials in friction applications in order to meet specific needs of our customers. In order to develop the most inventive solutions for new products we work closely together with the Rockwool International Research Centre and the suppliers for our trading products. Combining their product and production know how with our friction application know how, results in tailored products designed to match specific mechanical and friction performance requirements within specific processes, products and systems.
Application development
Just as product development, our application development is an important pillar of our R&D activities. By our application development activities we investigate the impact which the various products have on the friction material’s performance in the various applications. By this research we can support customers to use the products in an efficient way in order to develop friction products with an improved performance or reduced cost. By our application development activities we also aim on finding solutions to replace hazardous raw materials by not-harmful alternatives.
Field engineering
Our field engineers have extensive knowledge about the production processes and formulations for various friction applications and thereby can offer full on-site support. We can offer solutions to reduce cost or develop a material with an improved performance. The solutions consist out of a tailored formulation to meet specific customers demands in terms of price and performance, advise about the quality of the raw materials to be used in the formulation and on-site support to ensure that the formulation runs well in the customer’s production process. A substantial part of our resources is dedicated to field engineering because we strongly believe that this kind of service results in win-win situations and a strong long term partnership.
